The narrative verse form is a long poem which tells a story.

A narrative verse form was a original form where sagas were passed down from generation to generation (like Beowulf).

Occasionally notable modern narrative verse form include Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", Chaucer's The Book of the Duchess, and Merrill's "Lost in Translation".
